Coaldale man faces DUI charges

Rush Township police have charged George R. Skidmore, 49, Coaldale, with driving under the influence (DUI) and other traffic offenses after being stopped on Mahanoy Ave on April 28 at 12:20 a.m. Skidmore also had a suspended license.

Skidmore was taken to police headquarters for a breath test. The test results were .23 percent alcohol content, police said.

Police also reported that Amy Merenda, 23, Barnesville, is facing retail theft and trespass charges after allegedly stealing $46 worth of merchandise from Walmart in Hometown on May 2 at 7:50 p.m.
