Schuylkill driver facing charges

A Schuylkill County driver is facing charges, including hit and run, following a rear-end type crash that occurred about 8:25 a.m. on April 27 in the area of 124 W. Grand Ave. (SR209), in Tower City.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Robert Clifford, 67, of Tower City, was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado northbound when he stopped for a school bus in front of him, which was stopped. His truck was hit in the rear by a 1998 Ford Contour driven by Ryan Malick, 19, also of Tower City.

After impact Malick backed up and fled the scene. Witnesses were able to secure the license plate number on Malick's vehicle and he was located.

He will be charged with a misdemeanor count of hit and run plus summary offenses including driving without a valid license. No one was injured in the crash and damages were minor to both vehicles.
