Monroe County man arrested after domestic incident

A domestic incident led to the arrest of a Monroe County man.

Pocono Mountain Regional police were dispatched to 200 Oak St,, Apt. 1004, in the Foxfire Condominiums, Mt. Pocono, about 5:16 p.m. on April 30 to a report of a domestic assault. At the scene Mary Jane Peters, 56, of that address, told officers that her boyfriend, Charles Gaston, 51, same address, had thrown coins at her and grabbed her by the throat and started choking her. Police observed a bleeding wound on her forehead.

Gaston told the officers he and Peters had too much to drink and had a fight. During the fight Gaston said he did throw coins at her and grabbed her and pushed her into a bedroom. While at the scene officers observed a pipe commonly used in smoking marijuana in plain view on a kitchen counter.

Gaston was taken into custody and charged with simple assault, harassment and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the county prison in Snydersville where he was held pending arraignment.
