Bach & Handel Chorale to hold benefit concert
The Bach and Handel Chorale, under the direction of Randall D. Perry, invites the public to a benefit concert of sacred music at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 23 in St. John's Lutheran Church, located at 319 South Ave. in Jim Thorpe (Heights).
The concert will benefit Shepherd House, the organization that oversees the Carbon County Food pantry program.
Shepherd House supports nine pantries in the county which feed over 800 families.
Some of the musical highlights of the program will include "A Mighty Fortress is Our God,"by Martin Luther/Gordon Young; "Christus Resurrexit"and "Glorificamus," by G. Young; "Ave Verum Corpus" by W. A. Mozart; "Dona Nobis Pacem," by J. S. Bach; and "God So Loved the World,"by J. Stainer.
Additional selections will include "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," by R. Hughes; "Lord, I Call, O Hear Me," by F. J. Haydn; "For the Beauty of the Earth," by J. Rutter; "Promised Land," by N. Sleeth; and "Christ is Made the Sure Foundation" composed by Randall Perry.
Members of the chorale are hoping the public will come to the performance, support the Shepherd House, as well as be inspired.
Shepherd House is a non-profit charitable organization. All donations are tax deductible. A free will offering will be accepted during the concert.
