Employee charged with theft incidents

An employee at a Schuylkill County convenience store has been charged with stealing over $5,000 worth of merchandise from his employer.

State police at Frackville said Eric Wortman, 34, of 14 S. Front St., Minersville, has been charged with retail theft from the Turkey Hill Mini Market at 1565 Bunting St., Minersville.

Troopers allege during the period of April 26 to May 4 Wortman stole packets of lottery tickets, cartons of cigarettes and soda six packs totaling $5,493.80 in value.

The investigation into the incident is continuing, troopers said.
