Monroe crash leads to DUI count
A one vehicle crash in Monroe County has led to a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) pending against the driver. State police at Lehighton said the accident occurred about 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 9, along Jonas Road, in Polk Township.
Troopers said Nicholas James Hirsch, 21, of Kunkletown, was driving westbound when his vehicle struck another one stopped on the right side of the road. Hirsch was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests.
He was taken to the barracks for a breath reset which revealed he was over the legal limit of .08 percent. Troopers said DUI and related offenses will be filed against Hirsch.
