Graduate degree
Peggy Howarth, executive director of the Monroe County Transit Authority, recently received her masters in business and transportation from Rutgers University.
Peggy is the daughter of Effie Howarth of Saylorsburg.
Lions speaker
The West End Lions Club has come off a series of successful events that included the Red Cross blood drive and the judging of editorial and advertising entries from an eight-state area for the Mid Atlantic Community Papers Association.
The club's next meeting is Wednesday, May 19, at The Hamilton in Saylorsburg. Social time is from 6:30 to 7 p.m. with dinner being served at 7 p.m. The program for the evening will be provided by Thomas Reid, president of the Monroe County Council of the Blind. Reservations to the meeting may be made by contacting Bob Argot at (57o)-629-5718.

Rotary speaker
The West End Rotary Club will host Charles Conklin of Big Brown Fish Hatchery at its May 20 breakfast meeting.
The club meets at 7:30 a.m. at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville.
Driver Safety
An AARP Driver Safety Program, the four-hour certificate renewal class, is being held at the Chestnuthill Park Building on Route 715 from 1-5 p.m., Saturday, May 22.

Food packets
Area Lutheran youth and adult volunteers are invited to make food packets for "Kids Against Hunger" at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Tannersville, Saturday, May 22.
Two hundred volunteers will be needed to make 20,000 meal bags. One third of the meal bags will go to Haiti, one third to Chile and a third to local food pantries.
The Kids Against Hunger Satellite form Michigan will bring all supplies and equipment needed to complete the project.

Vouchers coming
The Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program will be offered again to eligible Monroe Seniors. The Monroe Area Agency on Aging will be administering the program beginning June 2.
The $20 voucher is provided free to eligible older adults. The coupons will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. West End Seniors who are eligible can pick up their coupons from 9 a.m. to noon at the Chestnuthill Center at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville, Friday, May 28.
The vouchers can also be obtained at the Monroe Area Agency on Aging office at 724B Phillips Street, Stroudsburg, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., beginning June 2.
Proper documentation for eligibility must be provided.

Donations appreciated
The Pocono Area Transitional Housing home will gladly accept donations of paper towels, toilet tissue, kitchen garbage bags, large trash bags, floor cleaning products of various kinds, dish detergent and laundry detergent.
