First Steps
First Steps, a support group for mothers, will have its monthly meeting on Tuesday, June 1, at the Primitive Methodist Church, 55 Hunter St., Tamaqua. The meeting will be held in the church social room from 6-8 p.m.
Participants will share a hot meal and explore 10 of Linda's favorite picture books.
The sessions are free and open to the public. Child care for all ages will be provided free of charge. New members and volunteers are welcome.

Senior News
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens group held its weekly meeting with 86 members in attendance. President Jean Machamer conducted the business meeting.
Eleanor Roberts provided an invocation entitled "Always Say a Prayer".
Vice President Doris Brobst presented a report and Rose Vallie the sick list. Eleanor Schmerfeld gave her weekly report.
Jane Springer and Lloyd Schmerfeld were welcomed back.
The meeting included a birthday party honoring members who celebrated their birthdays in April and May. The honorees included Margaret Matsago, Leona Machay, Lena Murphy, Theresa Dunkelberger, Rose Eick, Margie Skymba, Dolores Boyle, Antoinette Triano, Sis Mengel and Madelieen Heffelfinger.
Membership has reached 162. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join. Meetings are held Thursdays at 1 p.m. at the Tamaqua Community Center.
Zion Joint Service
Zion Church (zionchurchlewistownvalley.org will host a joint service with Calvary Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning at 489 Valley Road in Lewistown Valley.
Pastor Brian Reading will deliver the sermon and there will be a brief ceremony in the cemetery following the church service.
Primitive Methodist
Tamaqua Primitive Methodist Church, 55 Hunter Street, will hold Sunday School for all ages is offered this Sunday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The adult class is taught by Rick Clemson.
The Rev. Rodney Hall will officiate at the worship service being held from 10:45-11:45 a.m. A Children's Sermon will be included. Nursery care is available. The new chair lift will be fully operational this Sunday.
St. John's Lutheran
The Rev. Phyllis J. Wolford, Pastor, will officiate on Holy Trinity on Sunday, May 30, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 E. Mauch Chunk St..
Members of the senior class will be recognized at the 9:15 a.m. service.
The last Sunday School class before summer break will follow at 10:30 a.m.
The church office will be closed Monday, May 31 for Memorial Day.
Memorial Day also begins summer hours (office closed Mondays and Fridays).
TAHS Baccalaureate
The Baccalaureate Service for the Tamaqua Area High School Class of 2010 will be held Sunday evening, May 30 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Jerome's Roman Catholic Church, West Broad Street. The service is sponsored by the Tamaqua Area Ministerial Association. The Rev. Kevin Duffy-Guy, pastor of St. John United Church of Christ, Tamaqua, is the homilist for the service.
St. Peter's, Mantzville
St. Peter's Church, Mantzville, will hold ist morning worship on Sunday, May 31 at 9 a.m. There is no Sunday School this week.
At 10:30 a.m, there will be a Joint Memorial Day Service at Zion's Stone Church Cemetery.
On Thursday, June 3, the Prayer Group Meets at 5 p.m..
