Rush-Ryan seniors
The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met Oct. 26 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 43 members in attendance. President Eleanor Schmerfeld conducted the business meeting. Chaplain Kathleen Valentine offered an invocation.
Reports were presented by treasurer Shirley Becker and secretary Florina Martin.
Florina Martin and Shirley Becker provided inspirational readings. The annual Christmas party will be held Dec. 14, catered by Christy Joy.
The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. Anyone 50 or older is welcome to join.
Bloodmobile
An American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be held in Tamaqua on Nov. 17. The collection center will be at the Tamaqua Salvation Army, 105 W. Broad St. Hours will be from 1-6 p.m. Sponsor for this visit will be Bittner's General Store.
Anyone 17 or older, who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in good general health is eligible to become a blood donor.
SS. Peter and Paul
First Friday, Fatima Saturday and Rosary Sunday will be observed this week in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
First Friday communion calls will be made on Thursday for residents of Hometown and Coaldale. All others will begin Friday at 9 a.m. First Friday confessions will be heard at 7:30 a.m., followed by Mass and devotions at 8 a.m.
A recitation of the Rosary and devotions will be held Fatima Saturday, prior to the 8 a.m. Mass.
Members of the parish Holy Rosary Society will meet before the 8 a.m. Mass Sunday for a Recitation of the Rosary. The group will attend Mass and receive Holy Communion as a group.
Choir rehearsals will be held Nov. 10, Youth Choir at 6 p.m., Adult Choir at 7 p.m.
The Holy Name Society will meet at 8 p.m. on Nov. 11. The meeting will be preceded by a Mass, which will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The choir and ladies auxiliary will hold a combined Christmas party at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 at the Viennese Villa, Coaldale. Reservations may be made by calling the rectory at (570) 668-1150. There will not be a gift exchange this year.
The children's Christmas party and liturgy will be held Dec. 4 in conjunction with the 5 p.m. Mass. A sign up sheet is located in the church vestibule.
St. John UCC
The Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ.
Nursery care is available during the service, which will be followed by a time of fellowship. Sunday school for all ages will be held at 11 a.m. The weekly service is broadcast on radio station WLSH, AM1410, at 11:30 a.m. Sundays.
Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 2 p.m.
Activities for next week include: Monday, consistory meeting at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, bell choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.
St. Peter's Union
The Rev. Rodney Wells will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. The service will include the Celebration of Holy Communion.
A new member orientation will be held following the service. Sunday school classes meet at 10:15 a.m.
Also on Sunday, rehearsal for the Sunday school Christmas Program will begin at 10:30 a.m. Participants with speaking parts will rehearse at 11:15 a.m. Cub Scouts, Daisies and Brownies all meet at 6 p.m.
Activities for next week include: Monday, Food Co-op meets at 9 a.m.; Wednesday, Retirees meet at 10 a.m., dinner theater rehearsal at 6:15 p.m.; Thursday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m. and Confirmation class meets at 6 p.m.; Saturday, pork and sauerkraut supper, 4-7 p.m., sponsored by the Sunday school class.
Choir rehearsals are held on Thursdays. Next week's schedule will include: Junior Choir at 7 p.m., and Senior Choir at 7:45 p.m.
