TEPTO

The Tamaqua Elementary Parent Teacher Organization met Oct. 12. Members discussed the book fair at the Rush Elementary School and numerous upcoming events.

Orders for the candle sale are due by Nov. 18 and the Butter Braid fundraiser pick up will be Nov. 19, from 6-7 p.m., in the Tamaqua Elementary School Library. A school dance will be held Nov. 19, 7-9 p.m., for students in grades three, four and five.

Pictures with Santa will be on Nov. 19, from 6-8 p.m., in the school library. The public is welcome.

Parents of fifth grade students will meet Nov. 8, at 6 p.m., in the school library. The regular monthly meeting of TEPTO will be held Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m.

Anyone interested in supporting the students is welcome to become a member. The organization will be accepting memberships through Dec. 31. Tara McCarroll-Stauffenberg is in charge of the membership drive.

Adult day care

The Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center has a number of activities planned for November, including: Nov. 8, visit from Skye the dog; Nov. 10 and 12, shopping trip to the Dollar Store; Nov. 17, Salvation Army; Nov. 18, visit from St. Jerome's kindergarten class; Nov. 19, cooking class; Nov. 22, Thanksgiving dinner and sing-along with Audrey Christ; Nov. 30, monthly birthday party.

In addition to weekly sing-alongs and social games, hairstyling and manicure services are available. Both require advance notice.

Daily activities include exercise, reality orientation, remotivational and reminiscent therapy, as well as breakfast, lunch and a snack.

First Methodist

The Rev. James Cavallero will officiate at a joint worship service Sunday for members of Salem United Methodist and First United Methodist Churches. The service will honor military veterans.

Harvest Home Sunday will be celebrated in both churches Nov. 14. The services will include Holy Communion. Also on Nov. 14, a charge conference will be held at First Church, at 6 p.m.

First Church will sponsor a Christmas Festival of Music, featuring Audrey Christ, the church choir and the Heidelberg Bell Choir. The event will be held Dec. 17, at 1 p.m. For information call (570) 778-3546.

Bible study sessions, based on "The Miracles of Jesus," are held Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and Wednesdays at 11 a.m. The next sessions will be held Nov. 9 and 10.

The churches have combined to offer an outreach ministry to U.S. troops serving abroad by purchasing "Biblesticks," a digital audio device preloaded with an entire New Testament. For more information call (570) 668-3653.

Primitive Methodist

The Rev. Rodney Hall will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service Sunday in Primitive Methodist Church. The service will include a children's sermon. Nursery care is available. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:30 a.m.

First Steps, a support group for mothers of young children, meets the first Tuesday of each month, from 6-8 p.m., at the church.

Bethany EC

The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Nursery care is provided. Sunday school for all ages is held at 9:30 a.m.

Also on Sunday, a new member class will be held at 9:30 a.m. and the PLWG will meet at 11:45 a.m.

Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, prayer time at 8:30 a.m., Men's Fraternity meets at 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Tamaqua Youth Ministry meets at 6:30 p.m., Prayer and Bible study at 6:30 p.m. and Grief Share at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, musician rehearsal at 9 a.m. and praise practice at 9:30 a.m.

St. John's Lutheran

The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this All Saints Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. The service will include Holy Communion. Sunday school and Confirmation classes meet at 10:30 a.m.

Activities for next week include: Monday, church council meets at 7 p.m.; Thursday, Chime Choir meets at 5:30 p.m., Angel Choir rehearses at 6 p.m., Shepherds at 6:30 p.m. and Praise Choir at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, pumpkin roll pick up from 3-5 p.m.

Calvary UM

The Rev. Brian Reading will officiate at Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church. The service will include a celebration of Confirmation. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m. Also on Sunday, an evening of praise, worship and Bible study will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday prayer and praise services are held at 7 p.m.

Rally Day will be held Nov. 7, featuring "Heaven Bound Clown Around" and the Brothers in Grace Gospel Quartet.
