Schuylkill driver leaves crash scene

A Schuylkill County driver fled the scene of a one vehicle accident, and later returned, but is facing charges.

State police at Frackville said Emma M. Palik, 46, of Port Carbon, was driving a 2008 Dodge Dakota pickup truck eastbound on SR4002 (Valley Rd.), in Cass Township, about 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, when she said she swerved to avoid a small animal on the road. The truck went onto the berm and struck a utility pole and the front of a home a 586 Valley Rd. causing minor damage to the front passenger side of the truck. After impact Palik fled the scene.

The license plate on her vehicle fell off on impact, troopers said. She later returned to the scene to get her plate. Troopers said she was cited for careless driving and damage to unattended vehicle or property (hit and run).
