Schuylkill crashes
State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on several crashes investigated by troopers along Schuylkill County roadways.
A two vehicle crash was reported about 9:42 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7, along SR61 at the entrance to Faith Church, in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Taryn J. Gehman, 17, of Auburn, was in the left lane operating a 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck while Rhonda C. Reed, 60, of Orwigsburg, was stopped ahead of her in a 2006 Hyundai Elantra.
Troopers said Gehman failed to stop and hit the rear of the Hyundai with the front of her truck.
Reed was injured and transported by Orwigsburg ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH), Salisbury Township. Gehman was not injured.
Troopers cited Gehman for careless driving.
A one vehicle crash occurred about 8;05 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, along Second Mountain Road, west of Manheim Road, in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Rana S. Baer, 40, of Pottsville, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer eastbound and down a hill while negotiating a left curve. For unknown reasons the right side tires went off the road and the vehicle traveled about 70 feet before striking a tree.
Baer and a 15-year-old male passenger were flown by Medevac helicopter to the LVH. The investigation into the crash is continuing, troopers added.
A one vehicle crash was reported about 8:31 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, along SR443 (Chestnut St.), in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Christopher S. Bell, 24, of Pine Grove, was driving a 2006 Jeep Wrangler eastbound when a deer entered the road in front of him. The Jeep struck the deer with the front bumper. Bell was not injured.
Troopers investigated a hit and run crash about 3:25 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, along SR61, east of Blue Mountain Road, in Port Clinton. Troopers said Diavonna A. Pringle, 34, of Schuylkill Haven, was southbound when she said she saw a Jeep traveling in the left turn lane and abruptly cut her off. The front driver's side of Pringle's 2002 Saturn Vue was struck causing Pringle to steer off onto the berm and into a bridge abutment. The other vehicle fled the scene.
Pringle and passengers Chris Z. Armstrong, 11, and Stephen Z. McCloud, 10, both of Schuylkill Haven, all sustained minor injuries. Damages to the Saturn were disabling, troopers said.
The hit and run vehicle is described as being red in color, 1990s four door model, which was last seen headed south.
