Schuylkill driver facing DUI count

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 11:10 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 14, at 123 Cold Run Road, in East Brunswick Township.

State police at Frackville said Luis Melendez, 51, of New Ringgold, was driving a 1996 Chevrolet truck southbound when the truck went onto the east shoulder and struck the front porch. Melendez was found to be under the influence.

Melendez was taken by New Ringgold ambulance to theh Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for treatment of a broken nose, lost tooth and head lacerations. He also submitted to a blood test, troopers said.

The DUI charge is pending the test results. Troopers were also assisted at the scene by Walker Township fire personnel.
