Two Monroe County drivers are facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a vehicle stop made by Pocono Mountain Regional police.

About 5:04 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22, officers stopped a Kia sports utility vehicle along SR940 near Tanglewood Drive, for various vehicle code violations. The driver was identified as Pierre Jeanty, of Pocono Lake. Jeanty did not have a valid driver's license. Jeanty was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. Jeanty was then taken to the Pocono Medical Center (PMC), East Stroudsburg, for a blood test. Police said charges will be filed.

The second incident occurred about 1:17 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, along Doe Lane, in Emerald Lake, in Long Pond, Tobyhanna Township. Police stopped a vehicle for a equipment violation and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver was identified as Shane Curry, of White Haven. He failed field sobriety tests and was transported to the PMC for a blood test.

The DUI charge is pending the test results, police said.
