A Schuylkill County driver is facing charges following a hit-and-run accident that was reported about 6:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 22, along Knotts Road, in Wayne Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Kyle F. Lombel, 18, of Schuylkill Haven, was southbound driving a 1997 Jeep Cherokee when he veered off onto the shoulder and ran over a rural mailbox. The vehicle continued on the gravel shoulder and ran over a large plastic trash receptacle. The vehicle became stuck on the receptacle. Troopers said Lombel then backed off it and fled the scene.

The vehicle was later located in a neighborhood driveway with fresh matching damage, troopers said. Lombel was later located and admitted his involvement in the incident, troopers added.

Lombel and his passenger, Kelby S. Cantwell, 19, of Orwigsburg, were not injured.

Troopers said Lombel faces hit and run and other motor vehicle code violations.
