Schuylkill teen charged with theft

A Schuylkill County teen has been charged for theft and drug counts in two separate incidents.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Stephen Kanowicz, 18, of 207 N. Keyston St., Muir, Porter Township, was charged with theft. Troopers said Kanowicz broke into a lock box containing prescription pills for another member residing at his home, and removed seven pills.

In the second incident Kanowicz took the pills to the Schuylkill IU-29 school building at 17 Maple Ave., in Norwegian Township, and gave two juveniles each a pill. In that incident Kanowicz and the two juveniles were face drug violations, troopers said. The three attend classes at the IU building.
