Truck crashes in Schuylkill

A truck crashed along a Schuylkill County road on Tuesday, Nov. 23.

State police at Frackville said Bahir J. Smith, 31, of Philadelphia, was operating a 2007 Peterbilt G190 truck southbound on SR61 about 12:55 a.m. in Blythe Township when he lost control while attempting to negotiate a right turn. The truck rolled onto the driver's side and slid about 50 feet south where it struck the guard rail along the east shoulder.

After impact the truck traveled about 30 more feet where it came to final rest on its side along the east shoulder faicng south.

Smith was not injured. The road was shut down for about six hours due to the crash, troopers said.

Smith was cited for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed and accidents involving overturned vehicles.
