The Jim Thorpe Halloween Parade will be held on Sunday, Oct. 31. Everyone in the community is invited to march in the parade. Groups and organizations are welcome to build a float or march in uniforms. Call Kathy Schwartz at (570) 325-2911 or e-mail parade@jimthorpenews.com to sign-up or volunteer to help.

Members of the LAOH will meet on Sunday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. at McGinley Hall.
Switchback Scamper
The 40th annual Switchback Scamper will be held Sunday, Oct. 17, with the race time set for 2 p.m. For a registration forms contact Walter, (570) 325-8342 or Bonnie, (610) 554-3528, or visit www.stjohnsinjimthorpe.org for more information. Registration and packet pick-up will be at Mauch Chunk Lake Park, Wildoner & Koch Pavilion from noon to 1:30 p.m. the day of the race. Proceeds from the race benefit St. John's Lutheran Church, So. Ave.
The race will begin in Summit Hill traveling the Switchback Railroad trail and ending at the Mauch Chunk Lake Park. Awards will be given in various categories. If you wish you may also walk the course.
