Attempted homicide incident
State police at Frackville are investigating an attempted homicide, aggravated assault, robbery and theft incident that occurred on state game lands in Walker Township, just outside Tamaqua.
Troopers said a 32-year-old male reported that on Saturday, Oct. 2, he was assaulted by two males after he left the game lands after spending the day archery hunting. He also said the assailants took his gray 2008 Dodge Dakota extended cab truck.
According to troopers the victim said he was preparing to leave the game lands when the two men approached him and struck him several times with their weapons. During the assault the two obtained the keys to the Dodge truck and took it along with his cellular phone.
The victim fled the scene back into the woods and stayed there overnight. He came out early in the morning and went to an area residence where police and ambulance personnel were called to tend to injuries the victim sustained.
Troopers said their investigation revealed no shots were fired and the injuries sustained by the victim were not life-threatening.
Troopers from the Schuylkill Haven and Hamburg barracks assisted in the investigation.
