Registration for 2011 triathlon in Poconos is now open

The biggest brand in triathlon is coming to Pennsylvania in 2011 with the addition of Ironman 70.3 Pocono Mountains.

Scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, the event will take place in and around the scenic Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area with a finish down Main Street in historic Stroudsburg. The inaugural race will mark the first Ironman event in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and will include a multisport expo and other interactive events. Course maps and additional race details will be announced in the coming months.

Races in the Ironman 70.3 Series consist of a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike and a 13.1-mile run. This new race joins nearly 50 global events in the Ironman 70.3 Series that qualify athletes for the Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3, Presented by Ford.
