Over $14,000 taken in Monroe break-in

Over $14,000 worth of items were reported taken in a Monroe County burlgary. It was one of two break-ins and theft incidents reported by state police at Lehighton.

Troopers said the residence of Joanne McCarty, E. Sherwood Drive, Kunkletown, Polk Township, was entered sometime between 8 and 11 a.m. on Sept. 28. Removed were four jewelry boxes with various jewelry inside and savings bonds. Total estimated value of the missing items was set at $14,900.

Troopers also reported that the residence of Tyler Keeler, 29, 624 Church Rd., in Kunkletown, Eldred Township, Monroe County, was entered sometime between noon and 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 4. Entry was made through a rear door.

Once inside the criminals went to an upstairs bedroom and took a small safe. Troopers did not indicate what was in the safe.

William Graver, 55, of 950 Delaware Ave., Apt. 2, Palmerton, Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County, reported someone removed a Craftsman socket set from his apartment. The theft occurred sometime between Sept. 23 and Oct. 3.

Gregory Smith, 49, of Creek Lane, Saylorsburg, Ross Township, Monroe County, reported someone removed a 20-foot aluminum ladder and a yellow in color hand truck from his property. The theft occurred sometime between Sept. 28 and Oct. 2.

Ricky Lee Bauer, 40, of Spruce Hollow Rd., Palmerton, Towamensing Township, Carbon County, reported somone removed a set of cordless Dewalt brand "nano" battery powered drills (18 volt), from his pickup truck parked at his residence. The theft occurred sometime between Sept. 17-20.

Troopers also reported on three acts of criminal mischief.

Troopers said someone went to the property of Waste Not Technology, located along Kunkletown Rd., in Saylorsburg, and cut the lock off a gate. They then went onto the property and cut two additional locks that were located on two storage trailers. Nothing was taken, troopers said. The incident occurred sometime between Sept. 28 at 4:45 p.m., and Sept. 29 at 7 a.m.

Robert Pipech, 49, of 3083 Pleasant View Drive, Kunkletown, Polk Township, Monroe County, reported someone soaped the windows on his vehicles and then "keyed" his 2001 Chevrolet S10 truck causing about $250 in damages. The incident occurred sometime between 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 1 and 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 2.

Felicia Reinart, of Squirrelwood Court, Effort, Polk Township, reported someone smashed the driver side window her Honda Accord. Damages were estimated at $100.
