Golden Agers
The next meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers will be held on Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. The guest will be Geraldine Schaefer. Chorus practice begins at 11 a.m.
The guest speaker at the last meeting was Jean Zimmerman, a representative from RSVP. She spoke of all the available resources the agency provides.
Any member wishing to attend the Christmas Party on Nov. 28 should register and make payment at any meeting prior to the deadline of Nov. 8.
PV Senior Center
The PV Senior Center will hold a penny game at 11 a.m. On Oct. 4 there will be pay bingo at 11 a.m. Oct. 5 is the Sunshine meeting right after lunch. Oct. 6 is a shuffleboard tournament. Oct. 7 is the RSVP banquet. Oct. 8 is horse racing at 11 a.m.
The center will be closed on Oct. 11 Columbus Day. Oct. 12 is a visit to Mohegan Sun leaving CVS at 9:30 a.m. The center will remain open. On Oct. 13 there will be a speaker on Being Prepared for an Emergency at 11 a.m. On Oct. 14 flu shots will be given from 10 a.m. to noon. On Oct. 15 a shopping trip on CCCT at 9:30 a.m.
Remember to sign in or call by 10 a.m. for the next day's meal. Exercise equipment is always available. New members are always welcome.

Lansford
St. John's
At 7 p.m. each Wednesday, St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, holds an informal worship: a spiritual, peaceful evening service with Holy Communion. All are welcome to this relaxed, brief evening prayer.
For those who wish to come early, a simple supper is served at 6 p.m., followed by a brief adult and children's Bible study at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call the Rev. Marjorie Keiter, (570) 645-0356.
Summit Hill
Fall cleanup plans
Summit Hill Borough officials have announced the schedule for the town's annual fall cleanup. It is as follows:
On Thursday, Oct. 7, refuse will be picked up on the east side of town, along with Knepper's Trailer Court and East and West White Bear drives.
On Tuesday, Oct. 12, refuse will be picked up on the west side of town, along with Laurel Drive and East and West Mountaintop roads.
Items to be picked up include tires (no more than five), tire rims, auto body parts, refrigerators, freezers, vending machines, dehumidifiers, water coolers, heat pumps, washers, dryers and stoves. All items must have all chemicals removed from them and their doors taken off. In addition, up to 10 bags of garbage will be collected.
Boy Scout Troop 473
Boy Scout Troop 743, Summit Hill, is seeking new members. The troop meeting room is located in the Summit Hill Heritage Center in a room designed, remodeled and maintained by the troop.
The Scouts meet each Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the center, which is the former St. Paul UCC Church, Hazard and Chestnut streets.
All boys ages 11-18, or in the fifth grade or higher, are invited to register.

Congregational meeting
St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, will hold a special congregational meeting on Sunday, Oct. 10, immediately following the worship service.
All members are encouraged to attend this meeting.
Historical society
The Summit Hill Historical Society is looking for loans/donations of historical items that can be used for displays in the windows at the museum. Among the suggested items are things about town history, art, and sports-related or holiday-themed artifacts.
Anyone who has items to be displayed is asked to call Maxine Vermillion, (570) 645-9772.
Scripture sharing
The weekly scripture sharing sessions sponsored by St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will be held on Thursday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. in the church rectory.
Coaldale
Lions Club
The Coaldale Lions Club will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 12, and Tuesday, Oct. 26. Both meetings will be held at the Viennese Villa in town, and will start at 5:45 p.m.
The main topic at the two meetings will be finalizing the budget for the new fiscal year.
President Robert E. Ames will preside.
C.H.O.S.E. schedules meeting
The C.H.O.S.E. Recreation Organization of Coaldale meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 7 at the home of President Angela Krapf in Coaldale.
Plans will be finalized for the Halloween festivities on Sunday, Oct. 31 from 1-4 p.m. at the Coaldale Complex for children 1-12 years of age.
