All Night Party

The parents of the Panther Valley Class of 2011 will meet at the high school at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13 to discuss plans for the All Night Party.

Lansford

Borough meetings

Lansford Borough Council has two meetings scheduled for next week.

The council's Facility Planning Committee wuill meet on Monday, Oct. 11, at 6:30 p.m. in the borough office, 26 E. Patterson St..

The full council will hold its monthly public meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the community center on Ridge Street. Bob Gaughan, president, will be in charge of the session.

St. Vincent de Paul

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, helps to provide food to the needy. Members are collecting non-perishable food items that they donate to the town food pantry.

Among the suggested items are peanut butter, jelly, crackers, canned fruit, cereal, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, tuna, beef stew, soups, instant potatoes, macaroni and cheese and other canned items. They can be dropped off at the church.

CYO seeks help

Our Lady of the Angels Academy's Catholic Youth Organization is in need of volunteer help. St. John Lutheran

St. John Lutheran Church, Lansford, holds an informal worship with Holy Communion each Wednesday at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend the brief prayer service, as well as the supper that precedes the service at 6 o'clock and an adult and children's Bible study at 6:30.

Cub scouts

Lansford Cub Scout Pack 737 will hold its weekly meetings on Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m. in the lower level of the American Legion Post on West Ridge St.

Any boy in grades 1-5 who is interested in joining Cub Scouts may do so by attending the next session on Oct. 12.

AMVETS to meet

Members of the Lansford AMVETS Post will meet on Sunday, Oct. 10, at noon at the post home. Michael Frey, commander, will be in charge of the session.

Summit Hill

Church council

St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, will hold a church council meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m. in the church.

Methodist Charge

The schedule for the Coaldale/Summit Hill United Methodist Charge for Sunday, Oct. 10, is as follows:

Worship services will be held at 9 a.m. in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church and at 11 a.m. in the Coaldale United Methodist Church. The Rev. Burgess Gordon, pastor, will officiate at both services.

The adult Sunday school will be held at 10 a.m. in the Coaldale church.

Heritage center

The Summit Hill Heritage Center, formerly St. Paul United Church of Christ, is in need of several "wish list" items.

They include plastic cutting boards (medium size), dish towels, dish cloths, shovels, brooms, a ladder, a mat for the narthex and a computer, printer and copier.

Presbyterian church

The schedule of services for the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, for Sunday, Oct. 10, is as follows:

Junior choir rehearsal, 8:45 a.m.; Sunday school, 9:15 a.m.; worship service, 10:30 a.m.; and Fellowship coffee time, 11:30 a.m., or after the worship service.

The Chancel Choir will rehearse at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13.

The Presbyterian Women will resume meeting on the second Monday of each month (Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. All women of the church are welcome to participate.

OLOF event

The Our Lady of Fatima Sodality of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will hold its annual Mass and breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 17. The women will celebrate the anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima during the 9 a.m. Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, after which time they will attend breakfast as a group in the church hall.

Public rosary

The fourth annual public square rosary recitation will take place on Sunday, Oct. 16, beginning at noon in Ludlow Park in town. Those attending are asked to bring their own lawn chairs.

The event is being hosted by St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, as part of the nationwide "America Needs Fatima" program.

Coaldale

Fall cleanup

Coaldale borough officials have announced that the town's annual fall cleanup will be held Tuesday, Oct. 19. Refuse will be picked up throughout Coaldale. Items to be picked up include tires, no more than five, tire rims, auto body parts, refrigerators, freezers, vending machines, dehumidifiers, water coolers, heat pumps, washers, dryers and stoves. All items must have chemicals removed from them and their doors taken off. In addition, up to 10 bags of garbage will be collected.

Trick or Treat night

Coaldale will hold Trick or Treat night from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31. Residents are asked to keep their porch light on for the trick or treaters. All children should be accompanied by an adult.

Nesquehoning

Halloween party

The children's Halloween party will be on held on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. at the Nesquehoning Recreation Center. Children must be 10 years old or younger and must be a resident of Nesquehoning. A sign up sheet is at the recreation center (during Wednesday bingo 5 p.m.-10 p.m.). Deadline is Oct. 22.
