Owl Creek Halloween
The Owl Creek Reservoir Commission has set the dates for its annual Fall Foliage/Halloween Festival. This year's event will be held Oct. 23-24, beginning at noon each day.
In addition to hayrides around the reservoir, activities will include a hay maze, pumpkin painting, scarecrow and pumpkin photos, face painting, marshmallow roasting and more. The hayrides will run until 11 p.m. that Saturday (haunted after dusk) and to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Food and refreshments will also be available.
Rain dates will be Oct. 30 and Oct. 31.
Recovery help
"Celebrate Recovery" sessions are held every Friday, 7-9 p.m., at New Life Assembly of God Church, 407 Schuylkill Ave. Anyone who needs help recovering is welcome to attend.

TOPS
The local Chapter of Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) meets every Wednesday in the education room at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale. Weigh ins begin at 6 p.m., followed by a short business session and a program.
TOPS is a weight loss support group for men and women of all ages. Members learn sensible nutrition, portion control and lifestyle changes that promote lifelong health. Visitors are welcome to attend their first meeting without obligation.

Primitive Methodist
The Rev. Rodney Hall will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Primitive Methodist Church. The service will include a children's sermon. Nursery care is available. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:30 a.m. and will be taught by Rick Clemson.

Bethany EC
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Nursery care is provided. Sunday school for all ages is held at 9:30 a.m.
Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, prayer time at 8:30 a.m., Men's Fraternity meets at 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Tamaqua Youth Ministry meets at 6:30 p.m., Prayer and Bible study at 6:30 p.m.; and Grief Share at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, musician rehearsal at 9 a.m., praise practice at 9:30 a.m. and quilting at 11 a.m.
St. Jerome's
The finance committee of St. Jerome's Catholic Church, Tamaqua, will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. in the rectory.
Lewistown Valley
Garden Club
The Lewistown Valley Garden Club met Sept. 28 at the Social Hall of Zions Church, Lewistown, with President June Leiby presiding.
The program was presented by designer Brenda Stewart Boyer of Kutztown, owner of Persephone's Garden. Brenda shared some of the Greek mythology behind the name of her store and showed fall arrangements using dried materials, such as gourds, pomegranates, wheat and oats as well as other materials.
The arrangement of the evening was "A Dried Arrangement." June Leiby placed first with Evelyn Adams placing second and Mary Bridygham third. Honorable mention went to Cindy Sabol. The specimen category was Mums with Evelyn Adams taking all three places.
The next meeting will be the annual club dinner on Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. at Hoss's Restaurant. Reservations can be made by calling (570) 668-2927.
