The Tamaqua Senior Citizens group met last week with 76 members in attendance. President Jean Machamer conducted the business session.
Eleanor Roberts offered the invocation, entitled "Let Me Serve." Reports were offered by secretary Eleanor Schmerfeld, treasurer Dolores Walck and Vice President Doris Brobst. President Machamer provided updates on upcoming trips to Shady Maple, area dinner theaters and several shows. She also provided several readings.
The group meets every Thursday, at 1 p.m., at the Tamaqua Community Center, located to the rear of Boyer's Food Mart on Cedar Street. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.
Rush trick or treat
The Rush Township Board of Supervisors has set Sunday, Oct. 31 as "trick or treat" night in the township. Hours will be from 6-9 p.m. Those interested in treating the ghouls and goblins should leave on their outside/porch lights.

The South Ward Neighborhood Committee will meet Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. at 230 Race St. The meeting will include updates on the community center/playground projects. Anyone interested in improving the ward is welcome to attend.
St. Peter's Union
The St. Peter's Youth Group will conduct the 9 a.m. worship service this Youth Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. Sunday school classes meet at 10:15 a.m. and rehearsal for the Sunday school Christmas Program will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Also on Sunday, the church board will meet at 10:45 a.m. and the Cub Scouts will meet at 6 p.m.
Activities for next week include: Tuesday, Women's Association of St. Peter's meets at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, dinner theater rehearsal at 6:15 p.m.; Thursday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m. and the Confirmation class meets at 6 p.m. Dinner theatre performances will be Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. and at 6 p.m. on Nov. 19 and 20. Choir rehearsals are held on Thursdays. Next week's schedule will include: Cherubs at 6:30 p.m., Junior Choir at 7 p.m., and Senior Choir at 7:45 p.m.
