Schuylkill cyclist in Lehigh crash

A Schuylkill County motorcyclist was injured in a one vehicle crash that occurred about 6:42 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 11, on the southbound off ramp of SR100 at Interstate 78 in Upper Macungie Township, Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville said Daniel Bender, 34, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 2008 Suzuki GSX650 bike and negotiating a right turn on the off ramp southbound when the vehicle in front of him hit its brakes suddenly. Bender hit his brakes and they locked up, troopers said, causing the bike to slid off the ramp into a grass area.

Bender was injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, by Centronia ambulance. Troopers said Bender's injuries were minor.
