Carbon cyclist in Schuylkill crash

A Carbon County motorcyclist was injured in a crash in Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Robert M. Keich, 38, of Summit Hill, was driving a 1998 Harley-Davidson bike northbound on Scenic View Drive, in Pine Grove Township, about 3:56 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17, with several other riders.

As the other riders approached a hard left turn their brakes were applied. Keich attempted to avoid a collision and applied his brakes and swerved to the right. The front tire on his bike left the road which pulled the bike off the road and into a shallow ditch. Keich was thrown over the handlebars.

Keich was taken by Pine Grove ambulance to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for treatment of what troopers called were moderate injuries.

Troopers cited Keich for following too closely.
