Tigers, Indians both fall

Northwestern's field hockey team and Lehighton's boys soccer team both suffered losses this past weekend.

FIELD HOCKEY

Northwestern-Freedom

Maureen Dietz scored at the 4:39 mark of overtime to lift the Patriots to a 2-1 overtime win over the Tigers.

Sarah Jones scored with 10:02 left in the second half off an assist by Lauren Horner on a corner for the Tigers.

Sarah Bilheimer scored the other goal for Freedom with 3:16 left in the second half off a Dana Wetmore assist.

Sam Rex made two saves in goal for Northwestern. The Tigers outshot the Patriots 10-4.

BOYS SOCCER

Lewisburg-Lehighton

Visiting Lewisburg jumped out to a eight-goal lead and wound up beating the Indians by a 9-1 score in a non-league contest.

D.J. Rossino scored the lone Lehighton goal with 19:13 left in the game off a Jake Plocinik assist.

Lewisburg (16-1-1) outshot the Indians 29-8. Shane Fordyce had 19 saves for the Indians (5-13), while Lewsiburg goalie Christian Gallagher had eight.
