Indians top seed for AA field hockey

The defending District 11 and 2A state champion Lehighton Indians received a first-round bye into this year's tournament which opens up this week.

The Indians, No. 6 seed Northwestern Lehigh and No. 7 seed Northern Lehigh are the local teams in the AA bracket.

The only local team in the AAA field hockey bracket is Pleasant Valley.

The Lady Bears , the No. 11 seed will play at No. 6 seed Northampton today at 3:45 p.m. Northampton defeated Pleasant Valley 4-0 at home back on Sept. 4.

The Indians, the only non-Colonial League team in 2A, will play the winner of Wednesday's Saucon Valley-Palisades contest this Saturday.

Northwestern and Moravian will square off at 3:45 on Wednesday. Northern Lehigh and Southern Lehigh will do the same.

Both non-area teams won their match-ups during the regular season. The Lions defeated the Tigers 3-2 on Oct. 2, while the Spartans knocked off the Bulldogs 4-2 on Sept. 30.
