Monroe crash

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported investigating a one vehicle crash about 5:56 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20, along SR115 south of SR903, in Tunkhannock Township, Monroe County.

Police said a patrol unit came upon a vehicle that had struck a deer and then the guide rail. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Leslie Holmes, of Albrightsville. She was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extircated by rescue personnel. She was checked at the scene by medical personnel and then released to a family member. The vehicle sustained major damages, police added. A second vehicle had minor damages from debris in the crash, while traveling northbound.

Police also reported investigating a crash about 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 8 along Main St., south of Midway Road, in Coolbaugh Townshp, Monroe County.

Police said a vehicle operated by Benito Nimmo, of Tobyhanna, left the road and struck a PPL pole and then landed in the woods.

Nimmo, who said he swerved to avoid a deer, was injured and taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for evaluation. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene as it sustained heavy damage, police said.
