Lansford man jailed for theft

A Lansford man was jailed for retail theft following an incident in Nesquehoning.

On Oct. 20 about 8:35 p.m. Officer Carl Briener was dispatched to Redners Warehouse Market for a theft report. On scene Briener placed the suspect, Richard E. Ergie, of 522 E. Patterson St., in custody for theft. Erige is accused of stealing a roll of tape and Unisom pills totaling $10.04 in value.

Breiner learned that Erige has multiple felony convictions for retail theft. Erige was arraigned before duty District Judge Joseph Homanko, of Weatherly, and committed to the county prison after failing to post $5,000 straight cash bail imposed by Homanko.
