Panther Valley managed to pull out a close win over Tamaqua, while Northwestern split its Colonial League matches with Wilson and Moravian Academy.

GOLF

Northwestern Lehigh-Wilson-Moravian Academy

Wilson fired a round of 410 to knock off Northwestern and Moravian Academy in its Colonial League tri-match. The Tigers did managed to beat the Lions, however.

Northwestern's Cole Miller was the medalist on the day with a four-over 75. Teammate Nick Vecellio was the second lowest with a 78.

David Olexson led Wilson with a 79, while Jack Relly led Moravian Academy with an 85.

Tamaqua-Panther Valley

The Panthers pulled out a thrilling three stroke victory over the Blue Raiders, 339-342.

Matt Tucker led the Panthers with a 78. Teammates Kory Lopata (81) and Mike Hadesty (88) each shot under 90. Scott Nevenglosky added a 92.

Tamaqua was paced by Steve Christ's 81. Colin Johnson (83), Mike Toth (87) and Matt Hadesty (91) rounded out th Raiders scoring.

Tamaqua JV golfer Travis Miller fired a hole-in-one on the No. 8 par-3 hole.

Jay Ruvanetok medalist honors with a round of 83 to lead the Cardinals over the Indians,14-4 in a Mountain Valley Conference match at Mahoning Valley Country Club.

Nick Montz and Jake Hoats picked up two points apiece for Lehighton (0-2).

Jim Thorpe-Pocono Mountain West

Pocono Mountain West took both doubles matches as well as No. 3 singles, en route to a 3-2 non-league victory over Jim Thorpe.

Ellyn Tomko and Anna Domingo, the top two singles players for the Olympians, each won their respective matches in straight sets. Tomko won 6-4, 6-3, while Domingo won 6-2, 6-2.

Pocono Mountain East-Tamaqua

All three of Tamaqua singles players won to contribute towards a non-league win over Pocono Mountain East 4-1.

Lauren Androkitis, the Raiders No. 1 singles player, needed three sets to win (6-0, 2-6, 6-0), while Vanessa Wagner and Jordan Nowacki each won in two.

The doubles team of Laine Confer and Deana DeWire also won in straight sets.
