Published September 01. 2010 05:00PM

Two Schuylkill County taverns have been cited by the state liquor control board's Allentown enforcement office.

Michael L. Thomas, trading as Club 54, 100 W. Center St., Mahanoy City, and Vito Inc., trading as Johnny's Tavern Purveyor of Fine Spirits, 115 Sunbury St., Minersville, were both cited for used, or permitted to be used on the inside of licensed premises, a loudspeaker or similar device whereby the sound of music or other entertainment, or the advertisement thereof, could be heard on the outside.

The Club 54 violations occurred on Feb. 4 and March 11. The Johnny's Tavern violations occurred on April 4 and June 12.

These charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge brought.
