PV senior center

Fran Craigie, the manager of the Panther Valley Senior Center, has announced the list of activities for September.

On Labor Day, Sept. 6 the center will be closed. Sept. 7 is line dancing and a Sunshine Meeting. Sept. 8 is the celebration of birthdays and bingo at 11 a.m. Sept. 9 will be blood pressure screenings from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Sept. 10 there's a trip to the Hollywood Casino leaving CVS at 9:30 a.m.

Sept. 13 is pay bingo at 11 a.m. Sept. 14 the County Picnic at Jim Thorpe Memorial Park will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 15 is Penny Game at 11 a.m. Sept. 16 is Black Jack at 11 a.m. Sept. 17 shopping on CCCT at 9:30 a.m.

Sept. 20 horse racing at 11 a.m. Sept. 21 line dancing. Sept. 22 vegetable bingo at 11 a.m. Sept. 23 bean bags, cards, and pool. Sept. 24 pictionary at 11 a.m.

Sept. 27 darts. Sept. 28 line dancing. Sept. 29 pay bingo at 11 a.m. Sept. 30 Hawaiian Day at 11 a.m. Come dressed in your best Hawaiian outfit.

Summit Hill

Boy Scouting

Boy Scout Troop 743, Summit Hill, will hold its Court of Honor/Registration Night program on Sunday, Sept. 12, from 6-8 p.m. at the Heritage Center, the former St. Paul UCC Church, Chestnut and Hazard streets, Summit Hill.

All boys ages 11-18, or in fifth grade and up, are invited to attend and learn more about Boy Scouting as well as the method of registering for participation in the troop.

Services sought

St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, is seeking the services of individuals to fill various board positions. Openings exist for the parish council and finance committee, Our Lady of the Angels Academy school board and the OLOAA finance committee. The only requirement is a desire to perpetuate the Catholic school. It is not necessary that those serving in the school capacities have a child at OLOAA.

Anyone interested in the positions is asked to contact the Rev. James Burdess, pastor.

Lansford

St. Ann Society

Today is the deadline for registering for the Sept. 19 Fall meeting of the Frances C. Jakabcin District of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Auxiliary. The event will be hosted by the Hazleton branches 45 and 105 and will be held in the Lobitz Catering Hall, Rt. 940, Hazleton, beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Members of the St. Ann Society of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, and other local branch members who are planning to attend should call President Veronica Bazik, (570) 645-5253.

Skateboarders called

The Lansford Parks and Recreation Commission will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Community Center, 1 W. Ridge St., for all youths interested in skateboarding, BMX biking and tennis.

Movie night

The Lansford Parks and Recreation Commission will hold a free movie night, featuring Popeye cartoons, at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Lansford pool. If it rains, the movie will be held in the Community Center, 1 W. Ridge St. Please bring folding chairs or blankets.
