Only in Tamaqua

About two years ago my wife dropped her wallet in front of our house. About two hours later we got a call from the Tamaqua police office. The wallet had been found and when I went in to receive it, all monies and credit cards and I.D. cards and all personal stuff was intact. When I took the wallet to my wife Mary, we marveled at the realization of what a great community this is to live in.

As I have told the office manager of the police department how safe we feel here. In the sales and promotional and religious type of work we have done and the many places we have lived, give us a great place of comparison. We have lived in 17 states and four countries, beside my military locations in the far East, Korea, Japan, and the Philippines for 25 months during the Korean War. Several times we have had to call the police for help and very few times was the request answered quickly.

Just a few nights ago while temporarily living in the Flat Iron building, I heard loud shouts, angry shouts from two men, I was afraid one of them would hurt the other, so I called within a few minutes and the 911 dispatcher said, "Don't worry the police were already called by somone else and the police are already there."

Yes, we are safe here, and now that we are up in years, its important for enjoyable living I want to thank all those involved and encourage all to keep up the good work. Having worked in the ER at hospitals while in college and in service, I have treated many policemen and security guards for injuries. One brother-in-law in Clifton, Tex., died on duty a few years ago and one little brother was a deputy sheriff for years. I appreciate the calling that one has for the service.
