Driver cited after Monroe collision

One of two drivers involved in a crash that occurred about 7:39 p.m. on Sept. 2 at the intersection of state routes 115 and 903, in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County, was cited.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said Carissa McCaughey, 23, of Blakeslee, was drivng southbound on 115 and approaching the intersection when a vehicle driven by Patrick Fitzsimons, 49, of Danville, Ky., failed to stop for a stop sign and entered the intersection and collided into McCaughey's vehicle.

Both drivers were evaluated at the scene by medical personnel but refused transport to a hospital. Damages were termed extensive to the two vehicles, which had to be towed.

Police said Fitzsimons was cited.

Police also said they are looking for a hit and run driver involved in a crash at 246 Greenbair Circle, in a Pocono Country Place development. About 1:20 a.m. on Aug. 31 a vehicle struck omamental lighting knocking them down and also striking a tree before fleeing the scene. The property owner was not home at the time but a neighbor heard the crash and called police.

The hit and run vehicle is gray in color and should have significant front end damage as well as to the undercarriage.
