Schuylkill man jailed on charges

A Schuylkill County man was jailed over the past weekend on several charges.

State police at Frackville said the incident occurred about 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, at 296 Florida Ave., in Shenandoah Heights, West Mahanoy Township.

Troopers allege that Joseph J. Yuelling, 40, of Shenandoah, entered the home of Bernadette Chesonis, 39, of the above address, by cutting a screen window located on a second floor bedroom. He was observed by Chesonis inside the home, who then contacted family members.

Yuelling then jumped out onto the front roof of the home in an attempt to flee. In attempting to flee he was confronted by Thomas Kessler, 41, of Shenandoah. Yuelling assaulted Kessler by striking him in the head with his fist.

Yuelling was then sprayed in the face with OC spray by Chesonis and held at the scene until troopers arrived.

Yuelling was arraigned before duty District Judge David Plachko, or Port Carbon, on charges of burglary, simple assault and terroristic threats. Bail was set at $35,000.

Yuelling was also arraigned on a charge of violating a protection from abuse order and bail was set at $20,000 on that charge. He could not post either bail and was committed to the county prison in Pottsville.
