Schuylkill driver facing DUI count

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident that occurred about 3:22 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, along Vista Road, near Ridge Road, in Upper Mahantongo Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said troopers stopped a 2007 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Gerald Stehr, 24, of Pitman, while southbound when it was observed the truck bed had several poles protruding from the rear. Found was five PennDOT road signs which were removed from SR125 in the area of Hegins Mountain.

Stehr was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was then placed under arrest and transported to the barracks for a breath test, which determined he was over the legal limit. He will be charged with DUI.

The investigation into the theft of the signs in continuing, troopers said.
