Retail theft arrests reported in Monroe
Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on four retail theft arrests, three at the Walmart store in Mt. Pocono.
On Saturday, Sept. 4, about 11:45 a.m. officers were called to the store for an adult being detained for theft. The suspect was identified as John S. Gianforte, 44, of Freehold, N.J. Police said he was observed placing items into a box for a child car seat and attempted to leave without paying for them. The itmes total value was $393.38
Gianforte, who has prior convictions for retail theft, was taken into custody and lodged in the county prison in Snydersville pending arraignment.
Also on Saturday about 11:43 p.m. police were called to the store for a 15-year-old male from Albrightsville in custody for theft. He took a BB gun valued at $383.6 and a wallet valued at $14.56 and attempted to leave the store without paying for them. He was issued a citation and released to the custody of a guardian.
On Monday, Sept. 6, about 5:39 p.m. officers were called to the store for a theft incident and male in custody in the parking lot. The suspect was identified as Quinn Patrick Fitzgerald, 39, of Pocono Summit. Fitzgerald is charged with taking several bottles of cologne and a paint brush without paying for them.
During a routine search police found a controlled substance on Fitzgerald. In addition to the theft charge he is also facing drug counts, police said. He was lodged in the county prison pending arraignment.
On Saturday about 1:15 p.m. officers were called to Bill's Shop Rite in Mt. Pocono, for a theft incident. At the scene officers were told Steven M. Delp, 33, of Tobyhanna, attempted to removed items from the store without paying for them. A check revealed Delp was wanted by Stroud Area Regional police and he was taken into custody and turned over to that department.
