Monroe driver facing charges

A Monroe County driver is facing several charges following a incident that occurred on Friday, Sept. 10, along SR115 in Tobyhanna Township.

State police at Fern Ridge said a car was observed being driven erratically along SR115 northbound and failed to stop for a red light at the intersection with SR940. Police attempted to stop the vehicle with emergency lights and siren but the driver fled northbound.

The driver eventually stoppd at the Hill Crest Apartments along 115 but the driver refused to listen to the directions of officers and was tased and taken into custody.

The driver was identified as Matthew J. Woodard, of Box 578, Blakeslee. He refused to submit to a blood test. Woodard will be charged with driving under the influence (DUI), fleeing and eluding and other counts. He was lodged in the county prison in Snydersville pending arraignment, troopers added.
