Al-Anon meeting

Al-Anon adult children meetings take place on Monday nights from 7:30-9 p.m. at Salem United Church of Christ, Route 209 and Gilbert Road, Gilbert (behind the Turkey Hill). If someone close to you had, or has a drinking problem, then Al-Anon may be for you. Join them to learn more about how Al-Anon can help. PV Senior Citizens

The Pleasant Valley School District is offering an opportunity for school district residents who are 65 years of age and older to enjoy a wide variety of extracurricular school activities. In showing its gratitude to those senior citizens who qualify, the school district is issuing a "Bears Senior Lifetime Pass." Pass holders will receive free admission to all Pleasant Valley School District-sponsored extracurricular contests and performing arts events. To obtain a lifetime pass, stop by the school district administration office (which is attached to Pleasant Valley Middle School on Route 115 in Brodheadsville) during regular office hours and present ID showing proof of age and residency to the receptionist.

Operation: Touch of Home

Names and addresses of area troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan who can be recipients of Touch of Home's November 2010 essentials shipment are needed. Family members or friends with this information should contact: touchofhome@hotmail.com, or mail information you can obtain on its website's "GI Info" page to the following address. GI's name, rank, address, and deploy dates are critical. Also provide contact information of person providing this information. Volunteers are also needed. Safe Haven Rescue

Safe Haven Volunteers will meet at Cherry's Restaurant, Rt. 209, Kresgeville, on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 6:30 p.m. Safe Haven needs volunteers and foster homes. Safe Haven Rescue is a small, all-volunteer group based in the West End of the Poconos that finds loving forever homes for abandoned dogs from kill shelters. Safe Haven can always use volunteers to help at adoption days and fundraisers and to transport dogs to vet and grooming appointments. If you have a few hours a month, they could use your help.

Foster homes are urgently needed to provide temporary homes for adoptable dogs. Cornerstone Community Baptist Church

CCBC has resumed its regular schedule Sunday School for all ages, starting at 9:30 a.m. Worship service begins at 10:45 a.m., with nursery and toddler care provided for both. Following the worship service, stay for coffee and a time to connect with each other. Cornerstone is located in Polk Township at H.T.Y. Roads. in Kresgeville.

Elementary school open house

Pleasant Valley Elementary School will host an open house for second-fourth grades on Thursday, Sept. 16 from 6-8 p.m.

PVI School News

On Monday, Pleasant Valley Intermediate PAC meetings will resume at 1:15 p.m. in the school library. If you are interested in sharing your ideas and input with PVI, please attend the meetings. They are always interested in new ideas.

Also, PVI PTO meetings will resume on Wednesday, Sept 22 at 4:15 p.m. in the school's all purpose room.
