To my family when God takes me
Dear Editor:
When I have passed and cease to be
Please don't kill a flower for me
to deck my casket lid or grave
Then leave with heat or cold to brave.
Instead - if you must - plant a small shrub or tree
Or a pack of perennial seeds you will see
When they grow into flowers that sway in the air
Some gentle reminders to say a short prayer.
You won't see me resting my lid will be closed
The ritual simple - already proposed.
Remember me smiling and living each day
And please at the end let me do it my way.
