Connecticut man charged in Monroe

A Connecticut man was arrested following an incident in Monroe County involving a deer that was struck by a vehicle.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers were dispatched about 3:33 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16, to Long Pond Road and George's Cottages for a report of a deer struck by a vehicle and still alive. Upon arrival officers found a pedestrian, identified as John R. Crowley, 28, of Pawcatuck, standing near the deer. Crowley had covered the deer with a shirt and stated he was taking care of it.

Police advised Crowley to leave the area so they could dispatch the deer. Crowley became irate and started to yell at the officers. Crowley was again advised to leave the area. At this point Crowley pulled a knife from his pants pocket. Police then ordered Crowley to the ground at gunpoint. Crowley initially ignored verbal commands but eventually complied and was taken into custody.

Crowley was charged with resisting arrest, simple assault and disorderly conduct. He was then transported to the county prison in Snydersville for arraignment.
