Bench warrants

George R. Skidmore Jr., 50, of 418 E. Water St., Coaldale, appeared before Judge D. Michael Stine on a bench warrant. The court ordered the bench warrant vacated and bail set in the sum of $5,000 percentage cash. Skidmore faces charges of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, driving while license suspended and failing to drive on right side of roadway brought by Patrolman Jonathan McHugh, Rush Township police, last April.

James R. Nagle, 24, Pine Grove, also was brought into court on a bench warrant issued last September when he failed to keep a court appearance. Stine vacated the bench warrant and reinstated the bail and set aside the bail forfeiture as Nagle's case is attached for December term of court. He faces charges of theft by deception by receiving moneys to perform work in Bethel Township and failed to complete the job.

Christopher John Rodriguez, 21, Reading, appeared in court on a bench warrant issued in May 2009. Stine vacated the bench warrant and set aside the bail forfeiture but remanded the defendant to the county prison without bail. Rodriguez faces charges of delivering illegal drugs in Pottsville.

Found guilty

Edna Louise Shay, 48, Pottsville, following a non-jury trial, was found guilty by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin of possession of a small amount of marijuana and gave her credit for spending four days in the county prison and placed her on parole for 30 days, pay costs of prosecution, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education fund, $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account, $50 a month supervision fee, and $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab.

Faced jury

Keith L. King, 34, Shenandoah, was tried by a jury but the Commonwealth was unable to prove the more serious drug charges for which he was acquitted. King then pleaded guilty to possession of a small amount of marijuana and Judge Dolbin deferred sentencing until Nov. 10. Charges of possession with inent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance were dismissed.

Eagle Rock

Eagle Rock Resorts Company, Hazleton, was granted an extension of time by the Schuylkill County Planning Commission for submitting for final approval subdivision plans for Western Summit South Phases 5, 6 and 7 in East Union Township. The company was given to the board's December meeting to acquire the construction which must be included with the subdivision plans.
