Hit and run mishaps in Lehigh

Published September 22. 2010 05:00PM

State police at Fogelsville are investigating two hit and run accidents that occurred recently on Lehigh County roadways.

On Sept. 16 about 4:46 p.m. Cherrell C. Gaynor, 23, of Albrightsville, was exiting Interstate 78 westbound and attempting to go southbound on SR100 in Upper Macungie Township. Troopers said Gaynor stopped in the left lane due to a red traffic signal while another driver approached from behind traveling fast down the ramp. The other driver could not stop in time and his vehicle struck the rear of Gaynor's vehicle. Gaynor pulled to the side of the road to exchange information but the other driver fled the scene.

The second hit and run occurred about 11:35 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19, at the intersection of Mosserville Rd. and SR143, in Lynn Township. Troopers said Ronee Wright, 29, of New Tripoli, was making a right turn onto 143 from Mosserville while southbound. A driver operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle made a right turn to wide and struck the drivers' side mirror and door of Wright's 2010 Mazda 3. After impact the cyclist fled north on 143. Troopers said there was a group of about 30 motorcycles traveling at the time at that location.

Wright and her seven-year-old male passenger were not injured.
