Tamaqua man jailed on warrants

Published September 22. 2010 05:00PM

A Tamaqua man turned himself in to police on Saturday and will now spend at least 58 days in the Schuylkill County prison, Pottsville.

Patrolman Karl Harig was on foot patrol at 6:45 p.m. Saturday when he was approached by a white male who identified himself as Angelo Maldonado, 21. Maldonado told Harig there were outstanding warrants for his arrest.

A records check turned up two summary warrants on Maldonado from 2007 for disorderly conduct charges. It was also determined that Maldonado had outstanding summary warrants in Carbon County.

District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, agreed to come in to his office and sign the prison committment papers. Maldonado was then transported to the county jail.
