State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on crashes probed by troopers along Schuylkill County roadways over the past weekend, including one that shutdown a busy road this morning.

Troopers said Patrick E. Nelling, 59, of Milton, Northumberland County, was driving a 2007 International Harvester truck-tractor with trailer northbound abut 3:48 a.m. today along SR61 in West Brunswick Township. Nelling lost control of the rig and it went onto the left shoulder where it struck an embankment with the front left end. The truck then fully jackknifed and continued northbound when it struck a PPL utility pole and four mailboxes with the right rear portion. The rig then came to rest blocking both lanes of travel.

Nelling was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for treatment. He will be cited for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed. The road was closed for several hours until the wreckage could be cleared.

One person were injured in a two vehicle crash that occurred about 12:41 p.m on Sunday, Sept. 26, along SR61, just north of University Drive, in North Manheim Township.

Troopers said Gerald A. Zebertavage, 59, of Bethlehem, was driving a 2007 Nissan Altima northbound and stopped due to traffic. Kiana S. Daglis, 22, of Schuylkill Haven, operating a 2005 Toyota Camry, was also northbound and failed to see traffic stopped ahead of her. The front of her car hit the rear of Zebertavage's vehicle.

After impact the Altima spun a quarter turn in a clockwise direction and went onto the east berm where it came to rest. Zebertavage's wife, Marie, 60, was taken to a Pottsville hospital for treatment of a contusion to her head area and a complaint of pain in her arm, troopers said. Damages were severe to the Altima and moderate to the Camry.

Troopers said Daglis was cited for careless driving.

A crash was reported about 6:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 24, along SR209 at the intersection with SR901 in Branch Township. Troopers said Kathleen A. Justofin, 44, of Tremont, was southbound in the left lane and approaching the intersection. She attempted to turn left and failed to yield-of-way to traffic on SR901 and struck a 2002 Saturn SL1 driven by Stephanie A. Helt, 29, of Minersville, who was on 901.

Troopers said Justofin was taken to a Pottsville hospital due to a medical condition. No injuries were reported. Troopers cited Justofin for vehicle turning left.

A crash was reported about 4:14 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25, in a parking lot of the Cressona Mall in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Renia Trillas, 78, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 2002 Toyota Echo south in the lot and attempting to park and inadvertently stepped on the accelerator and struck a shopping cart corral. After impact several carts that were in the corral traveled south and struck two pedestrians and knocked them down. Trillas was not injured.
