Two area drivers, one from Carbon and one from Schuylkill counties, were involved in a crash in Lehigh County. State police at Fogelsville said the accident occurred about 9:55 p.m. on Sept. 22 along Mountain Road in Heidelberg Township.

Troopers said a 2004 Chevrolet Blazer operated by Alvin J. Nunemacher, 57, of Pottsville, was on its roof obstructing westbound lane of traffic due a previous crash. At this time Caleb A. Lilly, 24, of Lehighton, was driving a 1998 Dodge Neon in the area and became distracted when he saw grass strewn on the road and looked at the grass rather than the roadway in front of him, troopers said. The Neon then struck the Blazer while it was on its roof with Nunemacher still inside. After impact the Neon continued left onto Hawkview Road before coming to test.

A passenger with Lilly, Ryan S. Pelaez, 27, also of Lehighton, sustained lacerations to the face from flying glass, troopers said. Another passenger with Lilly, George E. Barthold, 37, also of Lehighton, was not injured. Nunemacher had minor injuries, troopers added.

Nunemacher was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic and Lilly was cited for careless driving.

The initial crash in which Nunemacher was innvolved in reported driving under the influence (DUI) related with charges pending.
