Theft of copper being probed

State police at Lehighton are investigating the theft of copper in two separate incidents. The incidents are two of several thefts and break-ins that occurred recently.

Troopers said four construction containers located along SR209 in Towamensing Township, Carbon County, were entered sometime between Sept. 17 and 20. Removed was a large quantity of copper wire. Troopers added that a construction vehicle was also entered and removed was utility belts and various tools. The property is owned by Asplundh Construction.

Vachagan Hakobyan, 32, of Clifton, N.J., reported his property at 1787A Spruce Road, in Saylorsburg, Ross Township, Monroe County, was entered sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Sept. 20. Removed was coppper piping from the basement area of the home.

Samuel Thornell, 50, of Box 5540B, Kunkletown Road, in Ross Township, reported someone removed a black in color 70HP Mercury boat motor form his property. The theft occurred sometime between Sept. 21 and 25.

Dominick Zavaglia, 58, of 5 Chestnut Drive, Hideaway Hills, Palmerton, reported someone removed a black six by eight-foot utility trailer from the backyard of his residence. The theft occurred sometime between Sept. 5-25.
