Coal companies targets of break-in
Two Schuylkill county coal companies were targets of a burglary this week. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred at 240 Airport Rd., in Foster Township.
Troopers said unknown criminals gained entry to the coal companies' property by breaking the gates along the driveway leading to the mining areas. Once on scene entry was made to the property of Mountaintop Coal Mining Inc. by prying open a door. Removed were numerous items including an acetylene bottle, a large oxygen bottle, a Mig welder, work gloves, propane bottles, grinders, welding leads, a generator, grinding wheels, numerous tools, brass bushings and copper wire.
The criminals also sorted through first aid kits removing aspirin and Benadryl from a first aid kit belonging to Char-Pak Coal Co.
The items were loaded onto a pickup truck, troopers added. The incident occurred sometime between 4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 27, and 6:20 a.m. on Tuesday.
